Companies regularly do things which leave wins on the table:
Despite training, tools, and redesigned processes, teams fall back on old habits and your pWin becomes a game of pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey.
You want performance from a high-functioning team, but a "proposal team" is often a collection of individual contributors. You can pull their knowledge together by managing select situtions differently - without spending more time or money:
You can train teams or revise entire processes, or you can make precise, high-impact improvements to your next proposal - and every one after that.
In 23 years as a govcon executive and consultant, I’ve provided proposal support in every possible way. I've written and reviewed. I've written for myself and for clients. I've written to prime and to sub.
I led proposal operations and wrote the big ones for an SDVOSB which grew
five-fold in six years. I wrote one for a multiyear, multibillion-dollar contract which the contracting officer described as “breathtaking.” Five years later, I wrote the winning recompete. I've supported government evaluations, led govcon workgroups and conference sessions, and advised on acquisition innovation and organizational culture. I know proposals.
I also know how much time you spend on them, and on improving them. Some hit paydirt, but most wonder where their ROI is. I developed proposal coaching to give companies a low-cost option between no support and well-established expensive support. There are three ways we can work:
Use generative AI to win more by learning how it works and by improving the content you feed it.
A detailed analysis of a proposal you didn't win, detailed suggestions for improvement, and a briefing with you and your team.
Get coached for a critical pursuit from pre-solicitation planning to post-submission lessons learned. Includes eight plays and a written playbook.
Proposals can be improved in many ways. We'll start by choosing a specific outcome you want to achieve so your proposal resource and I spend time on the right thing.
There's more than one way to achieve an outcome, but there could be one best way for you. We'll choose a way to deliver immediate results and build writing capability, for when I'm not around.
Proposal coaching should make your next proposal better in some measurable way. At the outset, we'll decide how to measure success - and we'll measure how we did.
Losing a proposal isn't the worst thing to happen. Losing one you could have written better for no more time or money is the worst.
